* Affordable
Health Care
Making health care coverage more
affordable
Eddie worked in
healthcare for over twenty years he understands that rising costs can put health
care coverage out of reach for many Americans. Health care costs are rising at
the fastest rate in nearly a decade, imposing a burden on families and
businesses. That is why Eddie will work to:
- Create new and
more affordable Health Care coverage options - targeted to those who need help
the most: low-income children and families; employees of small businesses; and
the self-employed.
- Generate improved
access to health care for the most vulnerable through expanding the number of
Community Health Centers and increasing the services they offer.
- Reform Medical
liability to help rein in unnecessary health care costs. Too many lawsuits
without merit are being filed against doctors and hospitals, forcing them to
practice defensive medicine, driving good doctors out of practice, and driving
up health care costs for everyone. Eddie believes people who have a legitimate
claim should have their day in court. But to make health care more affordable
and accessible to everyone, we must reduce the number of frivolous lawsuits and
limit excessive jury awards. No patient has ever been healed by a frivolous
lawsuit.
* Educational Opportunity
Give someone a fish and you feed them for a day,
teach them to fish and you feed them for a lifetime
Eddie comes from
humble beginnings and now has two college degrees believes we need to do more to
prepare our high school students for the future. In order for them to compete
for the high-demand jobs of the 21st Century every high school student must
graduate with the skills needed to succeed in college and in a globally
competitive workforce. That is why Eddie will work to:
- Strengthen and
modernize vocational and technical education, expands math and science education
for all students, enables more low-income students to pursue degrees in math and
science, and enables educators to determine whether high schools are graduating
students with the skills they need to succeed.
- Help the youngest
Americans receive a quality education and learn the basic skills they will need
to succeed in the future by holding schools accountable for student progress by
regularly testing in the fundamental subjects of reading and math.
- Increase funding
to provide extra help to middle and high school students who fall behind. With a
better trained and better educated workforce, America will continue to be the
best place in the world to do business.
* Economic Growth
We live in one of the fastest growing districts
in the fastest growing state in America
Eddie’s
experience as a small businessman has brought to life the economic challenges we
face in the future and the steps we must take to ensure our economy will
continue to grow, create jobs, and meet the needs of American workers in a
changing world. That is why Eddie will work to:
- Draft changes to
impress that government must take the side of working families. Many of our most
fundamental systems - the tax code, our health care system, worker training
programs, and retirement plans - were created for the world of yesterday, not
tomorrow. We must transform these systems so all Americans are equipped and
prepared to realize the American Dream.
- Keep inflation,
interest rates, and mortgage rates at there current low levels.
- Make this tax
relief permanent and reduce excessive regulations. Raising taxes on families and
small businesses along with the burdensome paper work of excessive regulations
will hurt the economic growth of new small businesses and job
creation.
